CARING FOR YOUR WOODEN WICK

At the heart of every Dot-Dash. candle is a wooden wick. If you take good care of your candle, you will be rewarded with a cosy crackle like a little log fire.

To create a beautiful flame that burns efficiently, trim the wick before lighting to 5mm above the wax. To light your candle, position your lighter flame to touch the wick and wax. The wick needs the wax to burn. We advise you to burn your candle for long enough to almost reach the edge. If you only burn the candle for very short periods, you will create a tunnel. You don't want to waste your wax, and the hole will eventually be so deep that the candle extinguishes itself.

If your relationship with the wooden wick isn't working out like you hoped, let us know so we can try to help.

CANDLE SAFETY

We know we can trust you to be sensible. But just in case you need a little reminder, here's some advice that should keep you, your loved ones and your home safe.

We advise you not to burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time, and to put the candle out for the last time when you see the wick is just above its metal support. The candle container may become warm during use, so please place it on a heat resistant surface. Never leave a burning candle unattended and always keep out of reach of children and pets. Never place lit candles near flammable items or where they can be blown by a breeze. If you experience an allergic reaction, skin or eye irritation, rinse with soap and/or water and/or contact a doctor.
